Panda Learning Centre, established in 2017

Located in Applecross, Perth, Panda Learning Centre is dedicated to high-quality Chinese language education for children and adolescents growing up overseas.

We welcome heritage Chinese learners, students from non-Chinese speaking backgrounds, and families seeking structured long-term Chinese education connected with culture and confidence.

Programs

Chinese course pathway

From pre-school foundations to advanced Chinese study, the program builds interest, literacy, reading, writing, and confident expression step by step.

Pre-school

Ages 4-6 / Young Children's Chinese

Children develop interest in Chinese through songs, games, storytelling, and guided activities. Basic stroke practice helps them build early habits for writing Chinese characters.

Primary Stage

Hanyu Pinyin + Chinese Books 1-4

Year 1 students learn Hanyu Pinyin as a foundation for independent reading. Through Chinese Books 1-4, students reach about 500-600 characters, read simple Chinese independently, write simple compositions, and enter systematic Chinese study.

Intermediate Stage

Chinese Books 5-8

Students reach about 1,800-2,000 characters, read more complex articles, simplified literary works and children's books, write 400-500 character compositions, and prepare for foundational WACE Chinese Background study in Western Australia.

Advanced Stage

Chinese Books 9-12

Students reach about 2,000-3,000 characters and move toward learning, thinking, and expressing themselves in Chinese. This stage connects with WACE Chinese Background, IB Chinese, VCE Chinese, and AP Chinese pathways.

Strong foundations for school and exam confidence

Students have consistently demonstrated strong performance in WACE Chinese examinations. The teaching team's track record includes a former student achieving 1st place in Western Australia in the Chinese Background examination in 2025.
